The reason, it seems, is that Law had a certain resemblance to his fellow British actor, Terence Stamp, who played Zod in the 1980 movie. Once again, Jude Law was in the sights of Bryan Singer, who wanted him to play none other than General Zod. Both Brandon Routh and Kevin Spacey were set to reprise their roles in the proposed sequel, which would serve as a retelling of 1980’s Superman II.
In hindsight, it was clear that we would never get a sequel to Superman Returns – but in 2006, the possibility hadn’t been entirely discarded yet. In the end, Brandon Routh was chosen to play the main role in Superman Returns– but that doesn’t mean that Jude Law was out of the picture just yet. The reason, he would tell Stephen Colbert in a 2016 interview, was that he couldn’t see himself wearing the Superman costume for more than two minutes. Ultimately, Law refused to play Superman, much to Singer’s disappointment. Stranger things have happened, however – like that time Nicolas Cage came dangerously close to playing the Last Son of Krypton himself. Law was hesitant, thinking that an Englishman like him wasn’t the perfect fit to play such an eminently American hero. Singer seemed decided to cast Law as his Superman for Superman Returns, going so far as sending the actor the final version of the movie’s suit to try it on. Every actor who has ever played the role has entered a select pantheon – a recognition of sorts, kind of like playing James Bond. Unlike the movie, the Man of Steel logo T-shirt should receive high marks for its style and comfort.When it comes to iconic superhero suits, few are as iconic as Superman’s red and blue. Conversely, other critics questioned the need to reboot the Superman franchise and some were not impressed with the heavy tone of the film. Some critics loved the film, giving high praise to the acting on display on screen as well as giving credit to the film makers for taking a chance and rebooting a well-known super hero. When the Man of Steel debuted, the critics spoke and reviews were mixed.
The yellow in previous shields is more of a gold color in the new movie and the red cape is a little darker. Superman's Man of Steel uniform is different from its predecessors as darker blues are and the red trunks are noticeably absent. This logo represents a redesign of the "S" shield as the producers of Man of Steel attempted to bring a darker tone and feel to the movie. The outline of the shield is the same shade of red as the "S." This logo T-shirt is navy blue with a large logo featuring the red "S" inside a yellow shield.
